Our summer campers (ages 5-9) finished up the two week Whizz Kids session. Miss Andrea gave each student a $10 loan from "the bank" to start their businesses. At the end of two weeks they would set up a booth in the playground Farmer's Market and sell their products. First they had to pick the products to make, list out supplies and understand the costs associated with making each item. Finally, on the morning of the big event they worked on their posters, carefully pricing their products and choosing the name of their first business ventures. Tie-dyed tees, friendship bracelets, pencil holders, paper airplanes, bookmarks and painted mini flower pots were some of the items for sale. Each booth displayed proudly the fruits of their labor. Once each business made $10 to pay back to the bank they were able to spend the rest of their profits. Finally friends, family and our preschool class were able to enjoy a lovely afternoon of shopping.
We cannot wait to see next year's treasures!
